Care Home Fire Alarm
Full fire system changeover from 'closed protocol' to 'open protocol' at a care home.

Fire system changeover

One of our major care clients had commissioned a brand new state of the art premise to re-locate their residents. But due to a 'closed protocol' fire alarm system being installed during the building project the premises had been overrun with faulty fire alarm devices on a regular basis, which due to the equipment only being provided by the manufacturer's agents meant that repair costs were running at a premium.

It was decided by the client that enough was enough.

Project Information

As the 'closed protocol' system was wired with well in excess of the normal 127 devices per loop as normally provided by 'open protocol' type fire alarm systems, Coomber Fire & Security Systems were able to provide a very cost-effective and minimal disruption solution to the client and remove all of the original automatic fire detectors, sounders and ancillary devices and replace with fully 'open protocol' equipment, with the changeover being completed within the day so that the residents and staff were not left unprotected during the evening and night.

Due to the re-use of existing cabling and device locations, there was no additional cost to the client for re-decorating or making good.

We have carried out this type of project for many clients over the years both in the private and public sectors.

If you have an existing 'closed protocol' or 'managed protocol' fire alarm system installed and have issues with maintenance, servicing, call outs, repairs or general day to day wear and tear give us a call and we can arrange to carry out a free no cost survey and provide a cost-effective proposal and quotation.
